5-Axis Disc Head Stone Cutting CNC Machine – XYZCA Router

This interface is designed for CNC machines used in stone and marble cutting with a disc head.
While traditional 3-axis machines (X, Y, and Z) handle linear motion in three dimensions, 5-axis machines introduce two additional rotary axes—A-axis (tilting) and C-axis (rotation around the Z-axis)—significantly expanding the cutting capabilities and enabling more complex and precise operations.

DESCRIPTION

Key Features

  • 5-Axis Coordination (XYZ + A + C):
    • X, Y, Z Axes: Enable three-dimensional linear positioning and depth control.
    • A-Axis (Tilting): Allows the cutting head or disc to tilt for angled cuts and chamfers, eliminating the need to reposition the workpiece.
    • C-Axis (Rotation Around Z): Provides 360° rotation around the vertical axis, essential for creating intricate shapes and contours in stone materials.
  • Disc-Based Cutting: Instead of traditional milling cutters, the disc is used for cutting granite, marble, and other stone materials.
  • Integrated CAD/CAM Environment:
    • Design parts or patterns directly within the interface.
    • Automatically generate G-code for 5-axis movements.
    • Simulate cutting paths to detect collisions or errors before production.
  • User-Friendly Controls:
    • Clear and intuitive panels for adjusting A and C axes.
    • Real-time monitoring of the cutting process.
    • Quick switching between different cutting tasks and design programs.

Advantages

  • Precision and Complexity: Enables detailed cuts, bevels, and complex shapes without the need for re-clamping the workpiece.
  • Increased Efficiency: Reduces repositioning time through multi-axis machining.
  • Enhanced Versatility: Supports a wide range of stone processing projects on a single machine.
  • Cost-Effectiveness: Reduces material waste and improves product quality through higher accuracy.

Typical Applications

  • Kitchen and Bathroom Countertops: Creating precise sink cutouts, edge profiles, and decorative finishes.
  • Architectural Stonework: Producing ornamental columns, balustrades, and decorative panels.
  • Custom Art and Sculpture Projects: Crafting complex geometries for artistic or luxury design applications.

Introduction

One-line value prop: Fast, accurate slab cutting, miters, and bevels with live 3D preview on true 5-axis (X-Y-Z + C table + A tilt).

Who uses it: Stone fabricators, countertop shops, monument makers, tile & architectural stone.
Works with: 5-axis bridge saws using a diamond disk/blade (linear X-Y-Z + rotary C and tilting A).
Compatible controllers: PC-SMART 4A / PC-SMART 3AS / PC-PRO LAN 4A

Supported files: DXF and standard G-code (e.g., ArtCAM / PowerMill posts)

Machine & Kinematics

  • Axes: X, Y, Z linear; C table rotation; A blade tilt (0–90°) for miters/bevels.

  • Operations: Straight cuts, step-cuts, angle cuts, arcs/segments, slotting & trimming.

  • 3D work envelope with homing, soft limits, and Safe-Z park.

  • Teach-in points: build cut lists from on-table points with Add Point.

Control & I/O

  • Smooth step/dir motion with look-ahead; per-axis feed & step inputs on screen.

  • Mapped outputs for Spindle (saw motor), Coolant/Water, pump/bleed, beacons, alarms.

  • Safety interlocks: door/guard, pressure/flow OK, E-stop chain, over-travel.

  • Optional laser line/pointer support for quick edge alignment.

Software & Workflow

  • Import DXF, or sketch rectangles, circles, polygons in Landscape then export to run.

  • Per-segment A/C angles, feed (V), and step-cut depth; automatic multi-pass slicing.

  • 3D preview of slab, tool and path; simulate or dry-run (outputs off).

  • Sheet/part align & rotate on table; set multiple reference points.

  • Resume from last G-code line after a stop or power loss (safe re-entry checks).

  • Job logging: time, length, miters, pauses/alarms; notes saved with the file.

Key Capabilities
(at a glance)

Key Capabilities(at a glance)

  • 5-axis linkage: X-Y-Z + C rotate + A tilt

  • DXF & Landscape workflow with teach-in Add Point

  • Step-cutting, miters/bevels, arcs/segments

  • 3D view, dry-run, single-block step

  • Full interlocks, Safe-Z, automatic job reports

Standard Workflow

  1. Open DXF or design in Landscape; send to the controller.

  2. Set origin, slab thickness, feeds/steps; apply A/C angles for miters/rotations.

  3. Use Add Point to teach cut locations or adjust alignment (laser optional).

  4. Simulate / Dry-run, verify limits and sequence.

  5. Run the job; the system manages step-cuts, coolant, and spindle/pump I/O.

  6. If interrupted, resume from last line; save the report for traceability.

Key Features of Radonix CNC Software

🔹 Six-axis router support:

Coordinate XYZ + up to three rotary axes (A/B/C) across wood, stone, milling, mold-making, and dental machines—up to 6 simultaneous axes.

🔹 RTCP (Rotation Tool Center Point):

Keeps the tool tip exactly on the programmed path during 5-axis rotations—no re-posting when you change head lengths or pivots.

🔹Multi-spindle heads

Run spindles synchronously or sequentially with per-spindle ON/OFF, RPM, offsets, and tool numbers.

🔹 Automatic tool changing:

Works with linear, rotary/carousel, and jack magazines—full clamp/unclamp sequencing, interlocks, tool table, and safe recovery.

🔹 Automatic Z tool offset & referencing:

Touch-setter cycles capture tool length (and optional diameter) for accurate depths and wear compensation after each change.

🔹 3D toolpath & rotary visualization:

Preview the job in true 3D with live A/B/C angles to verify reach, orientation, and motion before cutting.

🔹 Floor (depth) limit:

Enforces a maximum Z penetration so the tool never cuts past the programmed floor—protects the table, fixtures, and laminated stacks.
